Gateway Counseling Inc. provides several evidence-based treatment approaches and groups to help you on your path to wellness. Because we focus on treating not only Substance Abuse but any co-occurring mental health diagnoses, we have concentrated on selecting groups and interventions that have shown evidence for individuals with co-occurring symptomatology. In addition, we assign groups based on what is most appropriate for the participants receiving treatment. We offer the following individual and group counseling services:
MRT is an open, structured Evidence-Based Treatment (EBT) group. MRT is the premiere cognitive-behavioral program for substance abuse treatment and offenders of criminal justice. We have four certified MRT facilitators, and this group is for a minimum of 13 weeks.
RPG is an open, 26-week, structured group. We use A New Direction: A Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment Curriculum published by Hazelden. A New Direction is an Evidence-Based Treatment (EBT). We also offer a group for clients who present with low risk entitled, Living in Recovery. Clients have the opportunity to put skills into practice and process the maintenance period.
DBT is an open, 26-week, structured Evidence-Based Treatment (EBT) group. Although DBT was initially developed for individuals with severe psychosocial disorders, DBT has been proven to assist individuals with Substance Abuse. DBT is a comprehensive treatment program whose ultimate goal is to aid patients in their efforts to build a life worth living. The Linehan Institute trained our Facilitator.
CBT Writing and Discussion is an open process group. CBT is a result-driven form of psychological treatment, with a rich scientific literature supporting its value in treating depression, anxiety, and most psychological problems. Cognitive Journaling aims to: a) describe mental and external events as they appear in your consciousness, using an objective, experiential, falsifiable method, b) observe and highlight the empiric links between circumstances, thoughts/beliefs, and emotions, and c) challenge your own thinking and open it up to more functional thoughts, thus feeling and behaving better. Cognitive Journaling uses the “ABC Model,” activating events, beliefs, and consequences. The discussion portion involves the focus and time-limited nature of the treatment.
TREM is an open, 17-week, evidence-based process group. TREM is a facilitated approach to healing from the effects of trauma. It addresses a broad range of trauma symptoms, combines social skills training, psychoeducational and psychodynamic techniques, and emphasizes peer support. Additionally, it focuses on consumers aged 18 to 55, male or female, with severe mental disorders and/or substance use disorders. Our TREM groups are divided by gender. i.e., FTREM and MTREM.
We employ Masters Level Social Workers and Licensed Professional Counselors who are also Qualified Substance Abuse Providers to work with both substance abuse and the underlying co-occurring mental health concerns. During individual counseling sessions, we use a combination of Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Interventions, Person-Centered Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
