Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, evidenced-based psychotherapy approach proven to assist people in recovering from trauma and other distressing life experiences. EMDR is designed to assist people in resolving unprocessed traumatic memories from the brain and assist in creating new adaptable beliefs about oneself. EMDR can be considered a “kinder” approach to processing distressing events because it does not require one to talk about the distressing event in detail. In doing so, EMDR allows the brain to resume its natural healing process (EMDRIA, 2022).
